Disappointed / Wont go back

There were some good things about this hotel. We were really impressed with the room which had a modern chaise-type seat against a large window overlooking the city. We ate in - ordering room service for dinner and were vere pleased with the food.

In the morning my husband phoned reception to see whether breakfast was included in our stay and he was told that it was. When we attended the restaurant for breakfast, he was asked to sign a receipt for the breakfast cost - which he queried but was reassured that this didnt mean he would be paying for it. My husband thought the breakfast was pretty good - I had a hair in my food so didnt eat too much myself.

When we checked out, the reception put the charge for breakfast on our account. My husband explained what had happened. The reception manager on duty explained that it was a msitake and insinuated that it was our mistake. At least one reception staff member standing in front of us was wearing a badge saying "trainee". They continued to argue with us and then apparently did us a favour by only charging us for one breakfast.

I appreciate that this was a particular incident that ruined our stay - but when staying at an expensive - 4 or 5 star hotel, we expect the hotel can afford staff that look after (rather than offend) their clientele.

Nice hotel - but there are plenty of nice hotels and we wont return.
