November 2009 - Best deluxe accommodation 2009 - REALLY??

We turned up without a booking on a Sunday. The young woman at reception was not welcoming and told us nothing about what hotel offerred. Why does it take so long to register and check-out? We were told on arrival at 2.45pm room not cleaned and to come back in hour. Book in time is 2pm. The room said smoking was allowed on balcony but there was no balcony. There was only 3 coffee satchets and 4 milk - how stingy when we paid $185 for nite. They had a bench at end of bed that my partner tripped over during nite. No pen in room. The bar and cafe/restaurant not open at all. The sheets were luxurious.
